One out of every 8 bails on the church before they even set foot on the col\u00adlege cam\u00adpus (Leonard Sweet, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zondervan.com\/Books\/Detail.asp?ISBN=0310243122\">SoulT\u00adsuna\u00admi<\/a> page 47).<\/p>\n<p>Even leav\u00ading that dis\u00adturb\u00ading fact aside, col\u00adlege isn\u2019t too kind to the faith of stu\u00addents.<\/p>\n<p>Quotes from <b>Pas\u00adcarel\u00adla and Teren\u00adzi\u00adni: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1555423388\/qid=1028946303\/sr=8-1\/ref=sr_8_1\/103-9697895-5651839\">How Col\u00adlege Affects<br>\n          Stu\u00addents: Find\u00adings and Insights From Twen\u00adty Years of Research<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<ul style=\"display:none\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.popandpolitics.com?highlander\">high\u00adlander dvd down\u00adload<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cthe lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adture pub\u00adlished since 1967 fair\u00adly con\u00adsis\u00adtent\u00adly reports sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant declines in reli\u00adgious atti\u00adtudes, val\u00adues, and behav\u00adiors dur\u00ading the col\u00adlege years.\u201d p 280\u2013281<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe like\u00adli\u00adhood of chang\u00ading to no reli\u00adgious<br>\n          pref\u00ader\u00adence was also high\u00adest at so-called elite insti\u00adtu\u00adtions.\u201d p 303 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn prob\u00ada\u00adbly the strongest stud\u00adies on this point, Astin (1972b, 1977a) found (net of oth\u00ader per\u00adson\u00adal and back\u00adground fac\u00adtors) sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly greater than expect\u00aded decreas\u00ades in con\u00adven\u00adtion\u00adal reli\u00adgious affil\u00adi\u00ada\u00adtion and in reli\u00adgious\u00adness (that is, pray\u00ading and read\u00ading the Bible) among stu\u00addents attend\u00ading selec\u00adtive or pres\u00adti\u00adgious schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But there is hope: in the same vol\u00adume, the authors state:<br>\n\u201cOnly a hand\u00adful of stud\u00adies exam\u00adine<br>\n          the long-term effects of col\u00adlege on reli\u00adgious atti\u00adtudes and val\u00adues,<br>\n          but with one excep\u00adtion, they indi\u00adcate that changes in this area occur<br>\n          dur\u00ading but appar\u00adent\u00adly not after the col\u00adlege years.\u201d p 323 <\/p>\n<p>In oth\u00ader words, col\u00adlege is our last chance to reach a gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion!
