God is sneaky. I\u2019m pret\u00adty sure that\u2019s not in the Bible (unless you read a very loose trans\u00adla\u00adtion), but I\u2019m con\u00advinced of the fact. He tells us to be wise as ser\u00adpents, and He mod\u00adels that for us.<\/p>\n
For exam\u00adple, today Paula and I shared at a church in Burlingame, CA called Three Cities Assem\u00adbly<\/a>. The San Fran\u00adcis\u00adco Forty-Nin\u00aders had a play\u00adoff game today, so I was expect\u00ading the atten\u00addance to be a lit\u00adtle bit down. Oth\u00ader than that, I was\u00adn\u2019t expect\u00ading any\u00adthing unusu\u00adal.<\/p>\n God had oth\u00ader plans, though.<\/p>\n After the ser\u00advice, it\u2019s cus\u00adtom\u00adary for a mis\u00adsion\u00adary guest speak\u00ader to be avail\u00adable to shake hands and chat with peo\u00adple. I met the head of anthro\u00adpol\u00ado\u00adgy for Wycliffe Bible Trans\u00adla\u00adtors<\/a> after the ser\u00advice today\u2013that was pret\u00adty cool. I also met a guy who used to be in a Chi Alpha group led by some friends of mine in Stock\u00adton, CA. That was also pret\u00adty cool. It\u2019s not unusu\u00adal to meet very cool peo\u00adple after the ser\u00advice.<\/p>\n I also met one of my upstairs neigh\u00adbors, which was pret\u00adty sur\u00adpris\u00ading (and cool).<\/p>\n The best was yet to come, how\u00adev\u00ader.<\/p>\n Towards the end of the good\u00adbyes, I met a young man named Charles who was vis\u00adit\u00ading the church for the first time. Charles is a first-year Stan\u00adford grad stu\u00addent, and even though Burlingame is a good 25 miles away from Stan\u00adford he decid\u00aded to vis\u00adit the church today because he used to know Pas\u00adtor Hern\u00addon back when they both lived in Las Vegas (Charles was actu\u00adal\u00adly in Jay\u2019s youth group).<\/p>\n
