Sat\u00adur\u00adday morn\u00ading we were up ear\u00adly to go hear Doug Fields<\/a> and Bo Bash\u00aders talk about youth min\u00adistry at an event spon\u00adsored by the Church Com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion Net\u00adwork<\/a>. It was great\u2013CCN does these simul\u00adcasts from the Bay Area and they want a live stu\u00addio audi\u00adence. If you show up, you get in for free! There were prob\u00ada\u00adbly twen\u00adty peo\u00adple in the audi\u00adence.<\/p>\n

It was inter\u00adest\u00ading to see how well Doug worked the audi\u00adence. He\u2019s a real mas\u00adter at con\u00adnect\u00ading with peo\u00adple. Before the satel\u00adlite broad\u00adcast began he learned most every\u00adone\u2019s name, where the lead youth pas\u00adtors were sit\u00adting, and made small talk with sev\u00ader\u00adal peo\u00adple. He remem\u00adbered names and called on peo\u00adple direct\u00adly dur\u00ading his teach\u00ading. I was chal\u00adlenged to get bet\u00adter at that.<\/p>\n

Side note: I don\u2019t think Doug real\u00adly liked me. He did\u00adn\u2019t dis\u00adlike me, either. It was just a weird vibe. Maybe it\u2019s because I was\u00adn\u2019t dressed like a youth pas\u00adtor; I mean, my shirt had but\u00adtons and every\u00adthing! It might also have been relat\u00aded to the fact that when Paula and I showed up one of the direc\u00adtors asked us to sit in the cen\u00adter of the front row because every\u00adone else was hang\u00ading back. His first impres\u00adsion of us walk\u00ading out was prob\u00ada\u00adbly that we were some sort of weird groupies: we were dressed up and sit\u00adting in the cen\u00adter of the front row. And then we gave him weird respons\u00ades: he asked all the youth pas\u00adtors to raise their hands (and we did\u00adn\u2019t) and then he asked all the oth\u00ader church staff to raise their hands (we did\u00adn\u2019t). I think we con\u00adfused him.<\/p>\n

Still, it was great mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal.<\/p>\n

After that we drove up to Tehama, CA. It\u2019s way north, and pret\u00adty remote. We were to speak at the local Assem\u00adbly of God church Sun\u00adday morn\u00ading, so the pas\u00adtor put us up in a hotel overnight.<\/p>\n

I have to say that Tehama AG has the nicest church build\u00ading that we\u2019ve been in so far. It\u2019s the old\u00adest AG church struc\u00adture in Amer\u00adi\u00adca (built back in the 1800s) and it\u2019s the old\u00adest church in North\u00adern Cal\u00adi\u00adfor\u00adnia. Sim\u00adply gor\u00adgeous.<\/p>\n

After the morn\u00ading ser\u00advice we drove down to Cuper\u00adti\u00adno to speak at Abun\u00addant Life Assem\u00adbly of God\u2019s<\/a> mis\u00adsions ban\u00adquet. That was fun.<\/p>\n

Then we came home. It was a long week\u00adend (with over 500 miles on the car), but it was great!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
