It was fab\u00adu\u00adlous. I\u2019ve been think\u00ading about that obser\u00adva\u00adtion off and on ever since.<\/p>\n<p>I recent\u00adly stum\u00adbled upon it again, this time in its orig\u00adi\u00adnal form. No crooked table legs or ill-fit\u00adting draw\u00aders ever, I dare swear, came out of the carpenter\u2019s shop at Nazareth. Nor, if they did, could any\u00adone believe that they were made by the same hand that made Heav\u00aden and earth. No piety in the work\u00ader will com\u00adpen\u00adsate for work that is not true to itself; for any work that is untrue to its own tech\u00adnique is a liv\u00ading lie.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>[The Church] has lost all sense of the fact that the liv\u00ading and eter\u00adnal truth is expressed in work only so far as that work is true in itself, to itself, to the stan\u00addards of its own tech\u00adnique. She has for\u00adgot\u00adten that the sec\u00adu\u00adlar voca\u00adtion is sacred.
