Car\u00adson, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/tgc-documents\/carson\/2002_worship_under_the_word.pdf\">Wor\u00adship Under The Word<\/a>\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Car\u00adson is, in my esti\u00adma\u00adtion, one of the great\u00adest bib\u00adli\u00adcal schol\u00adars in the world today. And I don\u2019t just say that because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facingthechallenge.org\/cfue.php\">he loves uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty min\u00adistry<\/a>. \ud83d\ude42 Approx\u00adi\u00admate\u00adly one gazil\u00adlion (round\u00ading up from three hun\u00addred and forty-four) of his writ\u00adings are <a href=\"http:\/\/andynaselli.com\/theology\/d-a-carson-publications\">avail\u00adable for free online<\/a>. They\u2019re worth read\u00ading. Or at least sav\u00ading to your hard dri\u00adve so you can find them when you search your com\u00adput\u00ader using Google Desk\u00adtop\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Any\u00adway, in foot\u00adnote 39 on page 47 of this essay, he makes a rather point\u00aded obser\u00adva\u00adtion. I have bold\u00aded my favorite line.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Per\u00adhaps this is the place to reflect on the fact that many con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adrary \u201cwor\u00adship lead\u00aders\u201d have train\u00ading in music but none in Bible, the\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy, his\u00adto\u00adry, or the like. They give lit\u00adtle or no thought to cov\u00ader\u00ading the great themes of Scrip\u00adture, or the great events of Scrip\u00adture, or the range of per\u00adson\u00adal response to God found in the Psalms (as opposed to cov\u00ader\u00ading the nar\u00adrow themes of being upbeat and in the midst of \u201cwor\u00adship\u201d), or the nature of bib\u00adli\u00adcal locu\u00adtions (<b>in one cho\u00adrus the con\u00adgre\u00adga\u00adtion man\u00adages to sing \u201choly\u201d thir\u00adty-six times, while three are enough for Isa\u00adiah and John of the Apoc\u00ada\u00adlypse<\/b>), or the cen\u00adtral his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal tra\u00addi\u00adtions of the church, or any\u00adthing else of weight. If such lead\u00aders oper\u00adate on their own with lit\u00adtle guid\u00adance or train\u00ading or input from senior pas\u00adtors, the sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion com\u00admon\u00adly degen\u00ader\u00adates from the painful to the piti\u00adful.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Heh.
