With\u00adout any one of these legs, mis\u00adsions sim\u00adply can\u00adnot be sus\u00adtained.<\/p>\n<p>Which leads into my point\u2026 you may have noticed that we pre\u00adfer the term \u2018part\u00adner\u2019 to \u2018donor\u2019 in our con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adtions and in our writ\u00ading. This pref\u00ader\u00adence emerged from a study of <a href=\"http:\/\/glenandpaula.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2002\/07\/05\/the-biblical-model-for-funding-missionary-work\">how min\u00adistry was fund\u00aded in the Bible<\/a>. A crys\u00adtal-clear con\u00advic\u00adtion emerged: <b>God con\u00adsid\u00aders those who con\u00adtribute finan\u00adcial\u00adly to min\u00adistry to have a share in that min\u00adistry!<\/b> Con\u00adsid\u00ader, for exam\u00adple, <a href=\"http:\/\/bible.gospelcom.net\/cgi-bin\/bible?passage=3JOHN%2B1%3A8&amp;showfn=on&amp;showxref=on&amp;language=english&amp;version=NLT&amp;x=16&amp;y=7\">3 John 8<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There\u00adfore we ought to sup\u00adport such peo\u00adple, so that we may become co-work\u00aders with the truth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Echo\u00ading the same theme, Paul says the Philip\u00adpi\u00adans are <i>shar\u00ading in the gospel<\/i> (<a href=\"http:\/\/bible.gospelcom.net\/cgi-bin\/bible?language=english&amp;version=NIV&amp;passage=Phil+1%3A5\">Philip\u00adpi\u00adans 1.5<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>This is why we talk about build\u00ading a sup\u00adport team rather than rais\u00ading funds. The empha\u00adsis is on the rela\u00adtion\u00adships and not on the mon\u00adey.<\/p>\n<p>Even more sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly, how\u00adev\u00ader, it forces us to remem\u00adber that those who decide to aid us finan\u00adcial\u00adly are, in actu\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty, join\u00ading us in our min\u00adistry: they become co-work\u00aders with us.<\/p>\n<p> How so? Think of it this way: your mon\u00adey is a rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion of your life: it is what you get in exchange for time at work. By giv\u00ading of that, it is as though you were tak\u00ading time and serv\u00ading on the mis\u00adsion field! <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s kind of amaz\u00ading when you think about it. We all have a part to play in the King\u00addom of God. Some of us work in office build\u00adings, some of us work in homes, and some of us work in church\u00ades, but we all work togeth\u00ader.
