A Stan\u00adford archi\u00adtec\u00adture class is play\u00ading a vital role in the con\u00adstruc\u00adtion of a com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty cen\u00adter and school in Amati\u00adt\u00adlan, Guatemala. Design\u00ading all aspects of the project \u2014 from dor\u00admi\u00adto\u00adries to a church and retreat cen\u00adter \u2014 these stu\u00addents will show their work at a pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion to poten\u00adtial clients and con\u00adtrib\u00adu\u00adtors on Mon\u00adday.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Guatemalan facil\u00adi\u00adty will be a cam\u00adpus for the Cen\u00adter for the Restora\u00adtion of Women and the Social\u00adly Dis\u00adre\u00adgard\u00aded, also referred to as the CEREM project, after the Chris\u00adt\u00adian orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion spon\u00adsor\u00ading its devel\u00adop\u00adment. The cen\u00adter will act as a res\u00adi\u00adden\u00adtial cen\u00adter and school for home\u00adless chil\u00addren and for\u00admer pros\u00adti\u00adtutes, as well as a church and place of retreat.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the amaz\u00ading things about CEREM is the peo\u00adple who start\u00aded it,\u201d said Luis Tru\u00adjil\u00adlo, anoth\u00ader teach\u00ading assis\u00adtant who is also act\u00ading as the client rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive respon\u00adsi\u00adble for com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adcat\u00ading the facility\u2019s needs to stu\u00addent design\u00aders. \u201cThey have real\u00adly chal\u00adlenged me to give all that I have. You don\u2019t do this because you feel sor\u00adry for these peo\u00adple, but rather you do it out of love for them and the poten\u00adtial that you see in them.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Luis has actu\u00adal\u00adly been the key play\u00ader in this thing from start to fin\u00adish. He\u2019s got a mar\u00adgin\u00adal role in the arti\u00adcle, but Luis is the guy who set the ball in motion, hooked CEREM up with the Stan\u00adford class, and has gen\u00ader\u00adal\u00adly been push\u00ading to make it hap\u00adpen!<\/p>\n
