First the baby update: Dana is doing well. My mom (who is cur\u00adrent\u00adly vis\u00adit\u00ading) has dressed her in an out\u00adfit that I appar\u00adent\u00adly used to wear, and that\u2019s rather charm\u00ading. Any\u00adway, there are new pho\u00adtos online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now for the per\u00adson\u00adal news: Mon\u00adday evening at 6:30pm I\u2019m going to be ordained as an Assem\u00adblies of God<\/a> min\u00adis\u00adter.<\/p>\n

In case you\u2019re curi\u00adous about the admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtive back\u00adsto\u00adry, this means that I\u2019ve now maxed out my min\u00adis\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal cer\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions. I\u2019ve been a licensed min\u00adis\u00adter<\/a> for a num\u00adber of years, and I\u2019m now being upgrad\u00aded to full ordi\u00adna\u00adtion. It\u2019s like going from a mas\u00adter\u2019s to a Ph.D., except that I did\u00adn\u2019t have to write and defend hun\u00addreds of pages of aca\u00add\u00ade\u00adm\u00adic dri\u00adv\u00adel. <\/p>\n

Instead, I mere\u00adly had to defeat three nin\u00adjas in armed com\u00adbat. Pret\u00adty stan\u00addard stuff for a col\u00adlege min\u00adis\u00adter, I have to say.<\/p>\n

Ordi\u00adna\u00adtion does\u00adn\u2019t real\u00adly change any\u00adthing for me as far as my min\u00adis\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal func\u00adtions (the Assem\u00adblies of God has been erod\u00ading the dis\u00adtinc\u00adtions between licens\u00ading and ordi\u00adna\u00adtion) or legal stand\u00ading (I could offi\u00adci\u00adate at wed\u00addings, for exam\u00adple, before this), but it is pret\u00adty cool. <\/p>\n

Get\u00adting ordained reflects a sort of com\u00admit\u00adment to the move\u00adment. It\u2019s not the same thing as going from being engaged to being mar\u00adried, but that\u2019s not a hor\u00adri\u00adble anal\u00ado\u00adgy. Con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading the metaphor, it\u2019s a bit unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate from a com\u00admit\u00adment per\u00adspec\u00adtive that the Assem\u00adblies of God can be a bit of a tart\u2026<\/p>\n
