One of the bit\u00adter\u00adsweet things about col\u00adlege min\u00adistry is watch\u00ading the peo\u00adple in your min\u00adistry grad\u00adu\u00adate and move on.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s fresh on my mind because I bumped into two stu\u00addents who recent\u00adly walked the line.<\/p>\n
This week\u00adend Julia Heng (who just got her mas\u00adter\u2019s degree in Man\u00adage\u00adment, Sci\u00adence, and Engi\u00adneer\u00ading) dropped by for a few min\u00adutes to return some stuff she had bor\u00adrowed from us. I had\u00adn\u2019t seen her since our grad\u00adu\u00adat\u00ading stu\u00addents celebration\u2013she\u2019d been galla\u00advant\u00adi\u00adng around the coun\u00adtry with her par\u00adents (it was her mom\u2019s first time in Amer\u00adi\u00adca). Then she head\u00aded back to Sin\u00adga\u00adpore.<\/p>\n
And then this morn\u00ading I had break\u00adfast with Nate Flake. Nate just grad\u00adu\u00adat\u00aded from Stan\u00adford with a degree in lin\u00adguis\u00adtics. He speaks more lan\u00adguages than any\u00adone else I know.<\/p>\n
He was\u00adn\u2019t able to join us for the cel\u00ade\u00adbra\u00adtion that we hold right before grad\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion, and he\u2019s been on the road since receiv\u00ading his diplo\u00adma. This was the first time since then that we\u2019ve been able to con\u00adnect.<\/p>\n
And tomor\u00adrow he flies to Chi\u00adna for a year. He\u2019s not sure what he\u2019ll do there, he just knows that he does\u00adn\u2019t want to teach Eng\u00adlish. He\u2019s angling for a job as a trans\u00adla\u00adtor or some\u00adthing.<\/p>\n
