He had something to tell me about preschool:<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cMatthew hit me&nbsp;today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So I said, \u201cReally? And then what happened?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI hit&nbsp;him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reasonable enough for a three-year old. And around this time the teacher is probably about to get involved, and I\u2019m pretty curious about what she did. \u201cWhat happened after&nbsp;that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cHe hit me&nbsp;again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uh-oh. This might not be a very good story. \u201cAnd then what happened?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He got a big grin on his face. \u201cI tumbled him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I started to grin back. It was partly a response to his grin, partly amusement at his inventive use of the word \u201ctumble\u201d, and partly pride in my warrior son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see. And then what happened?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I burst into laughter.
