Melanie and I have enjoyed receiv\u00ading newslet\u00adters detail\u00ading what the Lord is doing on the Stan\u00adford cam\u00adpus. How excit\u00ading! I had and have absolute\u00adly no doubt that the Lord is using you and Paula to accom\u00adplish great things for His king\u00addom! I also want\u00aded to under\u00adscore how much your and Joe\u2019s lead\u00ader\u00adship is impact\u00ading my life right now.<\/p>\n
We are blessed to be a part of a won\u00adder\u00adful church in Tam\u00adpa. Mel and I recent\u00adly returned from lead\u00ading a mis\u00adsions trip to South Africa for near\u00adly three weeks. Melanie admin\u00adis\u00adtrat\u00aded peo\u00adple\u2019s finances, orga\u00adnized the details, and was the point per\u00adson for the team. She def\u00adi\u00adnite\u00adly has the spir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal gift of admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion. She did an impec\u00adca\u00adble job! Our expe\u00adri\u00adence in Chi Alpha mis\u00adsions was the mod\u00adel we used in team prepa\u00adra\u00adtion. We had 10 peo\u00adple on our team who ranged from the 20\u2019s to the 60\u2019s. We were all over the gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtional map, but we con\u00adnect\u00aded with each oth\u00ader and with the South Africans in a pow\u00ader\u00adful way. Thanks to what we expe\u00adri\u00adenced in Chi Alpha, we were able to lead a mis\u00adsions trip that not only trans\u00adformed peo\u00adple\u2019s par\u00ada\u00addigm about mis\u00adsions, but also laid a strong foun\u00adda\u00adtion for the church\u2019s mis\u00adsion vision for the future.<\/p>\n
I still have the five-fold phi\u00adlos\u00ado\u00adphy tat\u00adtooed on my fore\u00adhead. In fact, I am observ\u00ading that many church\u00ades have a dif\u00adfi\u00adcult time keep\u00ading a bal\u00adance among all five areas. Lead\u00ader\u00adship gets excit\u00aded about one area and for\u00adgets about the oth\u00ader four until peo\u00adple start feel\u00ading a void. I know that sea\u00adsons exist that change the bal\u00adance, but I am still learn\u00ading what that looks like. \u201cBal\u00adance\u201d is prob\u00ada\u00adbly one of the most dif\u00adfi\u00adcult issues in life because it con\u00adstant\u00adly changes. I think it is eas\u00adi\u00ader to achieve, how\u00adev\u00ader, if you know what it is you need to bal\u00adance. Thanks to you and Joe, I know that a church (as well as a cam\u00adpus min\u00adistry) must be found\u00aded on worship,discipleship, fel\u00adlow\u00adship, prayer, and wit\u00adness. I just real\u00adized yes\u00adter\u00adday why we had the struc\u00adture in place for Spring Lead\u00ader\u00adship Retreat. We were plan\u00adning activ\u00adi\u00adties around our five-fold phi\u00adlos\u00ado\u00adphy to bal\u00adance our growth in each area. The light came on a lit\u00adtle late, but it makes com\u00adplete sense now. What a great struc\u00adture!\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
I put this up not only for the sake of my van\u00adi\u00adty (although there\u2019s prob\u00ada\u00adbly a lit\u00adtle of that), but also to rein\u00adforce the mes\u00adsage I keep repeat\u00ading: col\u00adlege min\u00adistry is strate\u00adgic min\u00adistry. What we do in these few years with stu\u00addents shapes the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n
