San Francisco is planning to vote on whether to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/news\/default.jsp?story=n.pot.0724w\">grow pot (marijuana) on public lands<\/a>. This is because  <a href=\"http:\/\/vote96.ss.ca.gov\/Vote96\/html\/BP\/215.htm\">Proposition 215 legalizing medicinal marijuana<\/a> hasn\u2019t flown at all with the federal government. I suppose the city figures that if they grow the pot on public lands the DEA is less likely to come in and arrest government employees.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates say that this legislation has the additional benefit of providing job training for the unemployed. Training unemployed people to grow and distribute drugs just doesn\u2019t seem like a helpful social strategy to&nbsp;me\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, is the same city that just now made it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/frank_gallagher\/default.jsp?story=n.gallagher.0703w\">illegal to poop in public<\/a>, and the decision was hotly contested.
