I real\u00adly appre\u00adci\u00adate their vision. I\u2019ve often thought that some\u00adone ought to estab\u00adlish evan\u00adgel\u00adi\u00adcal min\u00adistry cen\u00adters at the top tier uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties, so I\u2019m glad to see that they\u2019re run\u00adning with it.<\/p>\n

Any\u00adway, this para\u00adgraph leapt out at me: <\/p>\n

By the 1970\u2019s, Assem\u00adblies church\u00ades were sprout\u00ading up in afflu\u00adent sub\u00adurbs across the coun\u00adtry. Recent sur\u00adveys by Mar\u00adgaret Polo\u00adma, a his\u00adto\u00adri\u00adan at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Akron in Ohio, found Assem\u00adblies mem\u00adbers more edu\u00adcat\u00aded and bet\u00adter off than the gen\u00ader\u00adal pub\u00adlic.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Assem\u00adblies of God and edu\u00adca\u00adtion are not two con\u00adcepts that are often linked in the minds of the pop\u00adu\u00adlace at large (with rea\u00adson, I might add: I\u2019ve actu\u00adal\u00adly heard these words uttered at a min\u00adis\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal gath\u00ader\u00ading with absolute\u00adly no hint of humor, \u201cThe prob\u00adlem with the Assem\u00adblies is all this eddikashun.\u201d More\u00adover, I saw sev\u00ader\u00adal heads nod in agree\u00adment). Per\u00adhaps that instance has unfair\u00adly taint\u00aded my per\u00adcep\u00adtions of the move\u00adment as a whole, but I\u2019ve nev\u00ader been par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly impressed with our intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adal prowess in the Assem\u00adblies.<\/p>\n

On the flip side, one of our AG min\u00adis\u00adters in San Fran\u00adcis\u00adco is a Har\u00advard grad who lives in a bus and min\u00adis\u00adters to the home\u00adless. And of my three dis\u00adtrict offi\u00adcials (bish\u00adop-equiv\u00ada\u00adlents) one has his doc\u00adtor\u00adate and anoth\u00ader just needs to fin\u00adish his dis\u00adser\u00adta\u00adtion. A pas\u00adtor I know in the San Joaquin val\u00adley was once nom\u00adi\u00adnat\u00aded for a Pulitzer. Come to think of it, I know lots of sharp, well-edu\u00adcat\u00aded min\u00adis\u00adters and even more sharp, well-edu\u00adcat\u00aded laypeo\u00adple.<\/p>\n
