The opening lines of his confession, \u201cMy name is Patrick. I am a sinner, a simple country person, and the least of all believers. It is threatened by police spies, overzealous administrators, and students who are intolerant of dissent.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that you\u2019re on break, please<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/registertovote.ca.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> register to vote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if you have not already done so. If you are registering in California, I strongly suggest you register as a Permanent Vote-By-Mail Voter, which simply means that you will receive a ballot in the mail before every election. It gives you plenty of time to research the candidates and issues from the comfort of your dorm room with your ballot in front of you. If you prefer to vote in another state then visit<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brennancenter.org\/student-voting\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> http:\/\/www.brennancenter.org\/student-voting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). That\u2019s above the legal level of intoxication for a Maryland driver.\u201c That\u2019s right \u2014 the AIR ITSELF WAS LEGALLY DRUNK.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><b>Why Do You Send This&nbsp;Email?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the time of King David, the tribe of Issachar produced shrewd warriors \u201cwho understood the times and knew what Israel should do\u201d (1 Chron 12:32). In a similar way, we need to become wise people whose faith interacts with the world. I pray this email gives you greater insight, so that you may continue the tradition of Issachar.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Disclaimer<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chi Alpha is not a partisan organization. To paraphrase another minister: we are not about the donkey\u2019s agenda and we are not about the elephant\u2019s agenda \u2014 we are about the Lamb\u2019s agenda. Having said that, I read widely (in part because I believe we should aspire to pass <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/econlog.econlib.org\/archives\/2011\/06\/the_ideological.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the ideological Turing test<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and in part because I do not believe I can fairly say \u201cI agree\u201d or \u201cI disagree\u201d until I can say \u201cI understand\u201d) and may at times share articles that have a strong partisan bias simply because I find the article stimulating. The upshot: you should not assume I agree with everything an author says in an article I mention, much less things the author has said in other articles (although if I strongly disagree with something in the article I\u2019ll usually mention it).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, remember that I\u2019m not reporting news \u2014 I\u2019m giving you a selection of things I found interesting.
