Path\u00adway is an 8\u2011month old church plant. Good things are hap\u00adpen\u00ading there\u2013a Mor\u00admon lady con\u00advert\u00aded last week, for instance.<\/p>\n<p>But any\u00adone who\u2019s ever start\u00aded a min\u00adistry from scratch knows that some days are just painful to be a part of. Things go wrong that you would nev\u00ader imag\u00adine could go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>This was one such day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Good News:<\/strong> guest shows up based entire\u00adly on our inter\u00adnet ads.<br> <strong>Bad News:<\/strong> while chat\u00adting with the pas\u00adtor before the ser\u00advice she is struck solid\u00adly in the neck by a fris\u00adbee and has to go home, take some med\u00adi\u00adcine, and lie down. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Good News:<\/strong> I brought five stu\u00addents from Stan\u00adford to check out the church. <br><strong>Bad News:<\/strong> every sin\u00adgle one of our reg\u00adu\u00adlars who was\u00adn\u2019t help\u00ading  missed church today. Every. Sin\u00adgle. One. Dur\u00ading wor\u00adship it was me and the stu\u00addents in the con\u00adgre\u00adga\u00adtion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Good News:<\/strong> the songs were real\u00adly cool songs. <br><strong>Bad News:<\/strong> two of the micro\u00adphones stopped work\u00ading between the sound check and the start of ser\u00advice and some\u00adhow the key\u00adboard became pos\u00adsessed by a demon. At least, that\u2019s my best guess. It sure moaned as though pos\u00adsessed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Good News:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/churchgatherer.blogspot.com\/\">Scott<\/a>\u2019s ser\u00admon was thought\u00adful and well-pre\u00adsent\u00aded. <br><strong>Bad News:<\/strong> the trans\u00adla\u00adtion that was shown on the screen was dif\u00adfer\u00adent from the trans\u00adla\u00adtion Scott was read\u00ading despite being pur\u00adport\u00aded\u00adly the same (fur\u00adther inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion reveals <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Living_Translation\">there are two edi\u00adtions of the New Liv\u00ading Trans\u00adla\u00adtion<\/a>\u2013our pew Bibles are the first and our com\u00adput\u00ader Bible is the second\u2013who knew?). The effect was dis\u00adcon\u00adcert\u00ading and dis\u00adtract\u00aded from an oth\u00ader\u00adwise excel\u00adlent mes\u00adsage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m not one to hyper\u00adspir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adize things, but I see a cor\u00adre\u00adla\u00adtion between the suc\u00adcess our church has been enjoy\u00ading late\u00adly and all the \u201cnobody\u2019s fault\u201d glitch\u00ades that popped up today. The Bible teach\u00ades us that we have an ene\u00admy, and some\u00adtimes he leaves scat behind.<\/p>\n<p>This is clear\u00adly going to be one of those ser\u00advices we spend a lot of time laugh\u00ading about in a few years\u2026 espe\u00adcial\u00adly the fris\u00adbee in the neck bit.
