Science simply doesn\u2019t exist independent of, well, scientists, that is human beings. It isn\u2019t some kind of independent authority\u2026. That is to say, there is no such thing as a science that is free of ideology when it comes to human beings, after all, studying themselves.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Things Glen Found Amusing<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/babylonbee.com\/news\/bible-study-starts-time\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bible Study Starts On Time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Babylon Bee): \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At publishing time, church leaders had declared the start of a new season of God\u2019s blessing after learning that the Bible study had miraculously ended promptly at 8:00 p.m.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/stanfordflipside.com\/2016\/10\/freshman-not-actually-all-that-special-says-grandmother-after-campus-visit\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freshman \u201cNot Actually All That Special\u201d Says Grandmother After Campus Visit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Stanford Flipside): you always suspected\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.getreligion.org\/getreligion\/2016\/10\/12\/there-he-goes-again-the-medias-ongoing-problem-covering-the-faith-of-tim-tebow\">There he goes again: The media\u2019s ongoing struggle to cover Tim Tebow\u2019s faith<\/a> (Terry Mattingly, GetReligion): \u201cthe simple fact of the matter is that some of the witnesses to the scene immediately began describing (yes, think Twitter) what happened in religious language, including use of the word \u2018miracle.\u2019\u201d I struggled whether to put this under interesting or amusing, because I find it&nbsp;both.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><b>Why Do You Send This&nbsp;Email?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>In the time of King David, the tribe of Issachar produced shrewd warriors \u201cwho understood the times and knew what Israel should do\u201d (1 Chron 12:32). In a similar way, we need to become wise people whose faith interacts with the world. I pray this email gives you greater insight, so that you may continue the tradition of Issachar.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Disclaimer<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Chi Alpha is not a partisan organization. Having said that, I read widely (in part because I believe we should aspire to pass <a href=\"http:\/\/econlog.econlib.org\/archives\/2011\/06\/the_ideological.html\">the ideological Turing test<\/a> and in part because I do not believe I can fairly say \u201cI agree\u201d or \u201cI disagree\u201d until I can say \u201cI understand\u201d) and may at times share articles that have a strong partisan bias simply because I find the article stimulating. The upshot: you should not assume I agree with everything an author says in an article I mention, much less things the author has said in other articles (although if I strongly disagree with something in the article I\u2019ll usually mention it).<\/p>\n<p>Also, remember that I\u2019m not reporting news \u2014 I\u2019m giving you a selection of things I found interesting.
