Grand\u00adpar\u00adents are rat mag\u00adnets. At least, that is the con\u00adclu\u00adsion I am rapid\u00adly com\u00ading to. As faith\u00adful read\u00aders no doubt recall, we had rat prob\u00adlems when my in-laws last vis\u00adit\u00aded (cri\u00adsis<\/a>, cli\u00admax<\/a>, ambigu\u00adous con\u00adclu\u00adsion<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Any\u00adway, back to the present: my moth\u00ader is vis\u00adit\u00ading and we have anoth\u00ader rat to con\u00adtend with. We saw evi\u00addence about a week ago but we set out some poi\u00adson in a child-inac\u00adces\u00adsi\u00adble loca\u00adtion and the rat con\u00adsumed a lot of it. We assumed it was dead, but today we saw its tail while prepar\u00ading lunch.<\/p>\n

We were mind\u00ading our own busi\u00adness when my moth\u00ader noticed a humon\u00adgous rat tail stick\u00ading out from beneath the dish\u00adwash\u00ader<\/strong>. It was larg\u00ader than a very large worm and small\u00ader than a small snake. Prob\u00ada\u00adbly about 7 inch\u00ades long. Assum\u00ading it was\u00adn\u2019t moon\u00ading us I\u2019ll assume a tail length of around 8 or 9 inch\u00ades total.<\/p>\n

Paula is less than pleased. I think she views it as a per\u00adson\u00adal insult to her home\u00admak\u00ading skills. I pre\u00adfer to think of it as part of a larg\u00ader eco\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal issue involv\u00ading our apart\u00adment com\u00adplex, the weath\u00ader, and the impos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty of cre\u00adat\u00ading a her\u00admet\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly sealed apart\u00adment.<\/p>\n
