This Black Pastor Led A White Church \u2014 In 1788<\/a> (Thabiti Anyabwale, Christianity Today): \u201cHe was licensed to preach on November 29, 1780 and five years later became the first African-American ordained by any religious body in America. In 1804 Middlebury College awarded Haynes an hon\u00adorary Master\u2019s degree\u2014another first for an African-American.\u201d<\/li>\n

Trump\u2019s Executive Order On Religious Liberty Is Worse Than Useless<\/span><\/a> (David French, National Review): \u201cthe order has three main components: 1) a promise to \u2018protect and vigorously promote religious liberty,\u2019 2) a directive to \u2018ease restrictions on political activity by churches and charities,\u2019 and 3) an order to \u2018federal agencies to exempt some religious organizations from Affordable Care Act requirements that provide employees with health coverage for contraception.\u2019 Those directives are respectively 1) meaningless, 2) dangerous, and 3) meaningless.\u201d The <\/span>ACLU agrees<\/span><\/a>, saying in their press release that the order was \u201can elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome.\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n
