David Garrow\u2019s rep\u00adu\u00adta\u00adtion as a civ\u00adil rights move\u00adment his\u00adto\u00adri\u00adan is beyond reproach, and as a Demo\u00adc\u00adra\u00adt\u00adic Social\u00adist, Gar\u00adrow can\u00adnot be said to have polit\u00adi\u00adcal motives for try\u00ading to dis\u00adcred\u00adit King. \u201c This is very sad. I knew King was adul\u00adter\u00adous, but these alle\u00adga\u00adtions go far beyond that.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/thebridgehead.ca\/2019\/05\/23\/christopher-hitchens-and-his-christian-friends\/\">Christo\u00adpher Hitchens and his Chris\u00adt\u00adian friends<\/a> (Jonathon Van Maren, The Bridge\u00adhead): \u201cChristo\u00adpher Hitchens is remem\u00adbered by the god\u00adless as a man who tru\u00adly hat\u00aded Chris\u00adtians and want\u00aded to utter\u00adly destroy Chris\u00adtian\u00adi\u00adty. In pub\u00adlic, in front of his admir\u00aders, he main\u00adtained that posi\u00adtion even as the grave yawned at him. I won\u00adder how dif\u00adfer\u00adent I would be if I had been able to find the feel\u00ading of devot\u00aded self-destruc\u00adtion only through God. Instead, I have con\u00adfused reli\u00adgion with drugs, drugs with music, music with reli\u00adgion. I can\u2019t tell whether my incli\u00adna\u00adtion toward ecsta\u00adsy is a sign that I still believe in God, or if it was only because of that ecsta\u00adt\u00adic ten\u00adden\u00adcy that I ever believed at all.\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Tolenti\u00adno has a way with words and her arti\u00adcle, though sad, is enter\u00adtain\u00ading\u00adly writ\u00adten. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getreligion.org\/getreligion\/2019\/5\/27\/jia-tolentino-reports-from-her-childhood-inside-houstons-repentagon\">Over at GetRe\u00adli\u00adgion<\/a>, Dou\u00adglas LeBlanc offers the obser\u00adva\u00adtion: \u201cTolentino\u2019s child\u00adhood expe\u00adri\u00adences appar\u00adent\u00adly left her think\u00ading that the main point of Chris\u00adtian\u00adi\u00adty is to live in an unbreak\u00adable bub\u00adble of bliss. If that\u2019s the case, Ecsta\u00adsy makes per\u00adfect sense as the most tempt\u00ading sub\u00adsti\u00adtute for God.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/05\/24\/us\/pete-holmes-comedian-religion\/index.html\">Come\u00addi\u00adan Pete Holmes was a good Chris\u00adt\u00adian guy. Then his wife left him, and things got weird.<\/a> (Daniel Burke, CNN): \u201c\u2026I thought that the lines were to God were closed, but they aren\u2019t. We were taught that God spoke direct\u00adly to his prophets and the authors of the New Tes\u00adta\u00adment, and then Paul, and then it was over.
