Instead we saw news arti\u00adcles made up from whole cloth, or videos edit\u00aded to take on a sin\u00adis\u00adter mean\u00ading.\u201d<\/li><li>There was a con\u00adtro\u00adver\u00adsy recent\u00adly when Trump showed up at a church and the pas\u00adtor prayed for him.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2019\/06\/trump-prayer-mass-shooting\/590920\/\">On Pray\u00ading for the Pres\u00adi\u00addent<\/a> (Emma Green, The Atlantic): \u201cWhat\u2019s remark\u00adable about this prayer is not that it hap\u00adpened, but that it shows how thor\u00adough\u00adly the Trump era has opened the way for cyn\u00adi\u00adcism and out\u00adrage over even mun\u00addane, pre\u00addictable Chris\u00adt\u00adian behav\u00adior.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/news\/2019\/june\/david-platt-president-trump-pray-mclean-bible-church-sunday.html\">David Platt Asks God to Grant Trump \u2018All the Grace He Needs to Gov\u00adern\u2019<\/a> (Kate Shell\u00adnut, Chris\u00adtian\u00adi\u00adty Today): \u201cPlatt is in an inter\u00adest\u00ading posi\u00adtion. For years, he\u2019s preached against the Amer\u00adi\u00adcan focus on \u201cself-advance\u00adment, self-esteem, and self-suf\u00adfi\u00adcien\u00adcy\u201d and \u201cindi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adal\u00adism, mate\u00adri\u00adal\u00adism, and uni\u00adver\u00adsal\u00adism.\u201d And now he\u2019s the pas\u00adtor of a sub\u00adur\u00adban Wash\u00ading\u00adton con\u00adgre\u00adga\u00adtion full of Chris\u00adtians who work on the Hill, a place once deemed \u2018a holy des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion for GOP sen\u00ada\u00adtors and Bush aides.\u2019\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcleanbible.org\/prayer-president\">Prayer For The Pres\u00adi\u00addent<\/a> (David Platt): this is Platt\u2019s let\u00adter to the con\u00adgre\u00adga\u00adtion explain\u00ading his actions. \u201cAt the end of my ser\u00admon at the 1:00 wor\u00adship gath\u00ader\u00ading, I stepped to the side for what I thought would be a cou\u00adple of moments in qui\u00adet reflec\u00adtion as we pre\u00adpared to take the Lord\u2019s Sup\u00adper.
