It doesn\u2019t gen\u00ader\u00adate as many head\u00adlines, and when it does gen\u00ader\u00adate a head\u00adline, that head\u00adline tends to be ignored, or quick\u00adly for\u00adgot\u00adten. And that cause is mon\u00adey. I\u2019ve seen shady stuff hap\u00adpen at some meet\u00adings but was\u00adn\u2019t quick enough to get to the floor or was\u00adn\u2019t sure enough of the rules to inter\u00advene. In a busi\u00adness meet\u00ading knowl\u00adedge tru\u00adly is pow\u00ader.<\/li><li>In ref\u00ader\u00adence to the larg\u00ader sto\u00adry, there are so many things hap\u00adpen\u00ading here:<\/li><li>This is an occa\u00adsion for lamen\u00adta\u00adtion. I have long said that the Protes\u00adtant sex\u00adu\u00adal abuse cri\u00adsis will dwarf the Catholic Church\u2019s (because we tend to have less control\/screening of min\u00adis\u00adters) and that both will be dwarfed by the pub\u00adlic school cri\u00adsis (which is yet to ful\u00adly reveal itself but I believe will be far worse).<\/li><li>The South\u00adern Bap\u00adtist exec\u00adu\u00adtives gen\u00aduine\u00adly had less con\u00adtrol over the situation(s) than some of their crit\u00adics allege, but they had far more con\u00adtrol than they pre\u00adtend\u00aded and when they did act it was often to con\u00adceal wicked things.<\/li><li>The fact that the SBC com\u00admis\u00adsioned this report and made it pub\u00adlic is very much to their cred\u00adit and over time will loom larg\u00ader in the remem\u00adbrance of this.<\/li><li>The scope of the abuse, while broad, appears to be less than I feared.<\/li><li>&nbsp;The SBC legal team and the for\u00admer exec\u00adu\u00adtives come off look\u00ading like evil reli\u00adgious lead\u00aders writ\u00adten by a lazy hack writer. It\u2019s stag\u00adger\u00ading\u00adly bad.<\/li><li>This entire deba\u00adcle is ger\u00admane to the Tim Keller\/winsomeness debate: do we oper\u00adate accord\u00ading to the stan\u00addards of our cul\u00adture or the stan\u00addards of the King\u00addom? Christ demands anoth\u00ader way, and if that opens us up to neg\u00ada\u00adtive cul\u00adtur\u00adal con\u00adse\u00adquences (whether elec\u00adtoral defeats or ruinous law\u00adsuits) then so be it.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The school shoot\u00ading:<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ministrywatch.com\/avoiding-financial-and-governance-disasters\/\" target=\"_blank\">A fourth-grad\u00ader who sur\u00advived the shoot\u00ading says she smeared friend\u2019s blood on her\u00adself to appear dead<\/a> (Nora Neus, CNN): \u201cMiah said she was scared the gun\u00adman would come back to kill her and a few oth\u00ader sur\u00adviv\u00ading friends. So, she put her hands in her friend\u2019s blood, who laid next to her\u2014 and already looked dead\u2014and then smeared it all over her\u00adself to appear dead.\u2026 She says after\u00adwards, she over\u00adheard talk of police wait\u00ading out\u00adside the school. Recount\u00ading this dur\u00ading the inter\u00adview, she start\u00aded cry\u00ading, say\u00ading she just didn\u2019t under\u00adstand why they didn\u2019t come inside and get them.\u201d Heart\u00adbreak\u00ading. James, First Things): \u201cThere are some who sneer at peo\u00adple, like me, who offer prayers in times like these. Prayer, they say, is non-action: an inef\u00adfec\u00adtive, mean\u00ading\u00adless piety meant to main\u00adtain the sta\u00adtus quo on gun con\u00adtrol.
