In one study of 28,000 young stu\u00addents, those attend\u00ading high\u00ader-rank\u00ading uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties did only slight\u00adly bet\u00adter on con\u00adsult\u00ading projects than those attend\u00ading low\u00ader-ranked uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties. Grant notes that this would mean, for instance, that a Yale stu\u00addent would have been only about 1.9 per\u00adcent more pro\u00adfi\u00adcient than a stu\u00addent from Cleve\u00adland State when mea\u00adsured by the qual\u00adi\u00adty of their work. The Yale stu\u00addent would also have been more like\u00adly to be a jerk: The researchers found that stu\u00addents from high\u00ader-rank\u00ading col\u00adleges and uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties, while nom\u00adi\u00adnal\u00adly more effec\u00adtive than oth\u00ader stu\u00addents, were more like\u00adly to pay \u2018insuf\u00adfi\u00adcient atten\u00adtion to inter\u00adper\u00adson\u00adal rela\u00adtion\u00adships,\u2019 and in some instances to be \u2018less friend\u00adly,\u2019 \u2018more prone to con\u00adflict,\u2019 and \u2018less like\u00adly to iden\u00adti\u00adfy with their team.\u2019&nbsp;\u201d\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inter\u00adest\u00ading through\u00adout. Far from advanc\u00ading their opin\u00adions, pro\u00adfes\u00adsors in fact func\u00adtion to inval\u00adi\u00addate these views for the major\u00adi\u00adty of Amer\u00adi\u00adcans who nev\u00ader had the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to attend elite insti\u00adtu\u00adtions but who are con\u00adstant\u00adly stig\u00adma\u00adtized for their low-class opin\u00adions by the lucky grad\u00adu\u00adates. Far from rep\u00adre\u00adsent\u00ading a pow\u00ader\u00adful avant-garde lead\u00ading the way to polit\u00adi\u00adcal change, the politi\u00adcized class of pro\u00adfes\u00adsors is a seri\u00adous polit\u00adi\u00adcal lia\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty to any par\u00adty that it sup\u00adports.\u201d\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The author is an Eng\u00adlish pro\u00adfes\u00adsor at Case West\u00adern. He takes for grant\u00aded that its depths are bot\u00adtom\u00adless. Do pas\u00adtors mod\u00adel this pos\u00adture in the pul\u00adpit? Do teach\u00aders in the class\u00adroom? Do schol\u00adars on the page?Christian read\u00aders should learn from Peterson\u2019s bold\u00adness, his dis\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtion of awe and docil\u00adi\u00adty before the sacred page. He opens the scroll with the same spir\u00adit as the psalmist: \u2018Open my eyes that I may see won\u00adder\u00adful things in your law\u2019 (119:18).\u201d\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rec\u00adom\u00admend\u00aded by a col\u00adleague. We used a \u2018human out of the loop\u2019 par\u00ada\u00addigm: we used the first 5 poems gen\u00ader\u00adat\u00aded, and did not select the \u2018best\u2019 out of a group of poems or pro\u00advide any feed\u00adback or instruc\u00adtions to the mod\u00adel beyond \u2018Write a short poem in the style of\u2009&lt;poet&gt;\u2009\u2018. In the first exper\u00adi\u00adment, 1,634 par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants were ran\u00addom\u00adly assigned to one of the 10 poets, and pre\u00adsent\u00aded with 10 poems in ran\u00addom order: 5 poems writ\u00adten by that poet, and 5 gen\u00ader\u00adat\u00aded by AI \u2018in the style of\u2019 that poet. It turns out that the \u2018effect is sub\u00adstan\u00adtial\u00adly weak\u00adened, and often becomes sta\u00adtis\u00adti\u00adcal\u00adly insignif\u00adi\u00adcant,\u2019 once you take into account that Black doc\u00adtors are less like\u00adly to see the high\u00ader-risk pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion of new\u00adborns with low birth weight.
