The growth in stu\u00addents with no reli\u00adgious pref\u00ader\u00adence par\u00adal\u00adlels the growth in the per\u00adcent\u00adage of stu\u00addents who report no reli\u00adgious pref\u00ader\u00adence for at least one par\u00adent. A record high of 12.4 per\u00adcent of fresh\u00admen describe their fathers as hav\u00ading no reli\u00adgious pref\u00ader\u00adence, and a record high of 7.8 per\u00adcent report no reli\u00adgious ref\u00ader\u00adence for their moth\u00aders.<\/p>\n<p>Addi\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adly, there is a decline in the per\u00adcent\u00adage of stu\u00addents who pray or med\u00adi\u00adtate at least once a week (from 67.7 in 2000 to 65.7 per\u00adcent in 2001). A new sur\u00advey ques\u00adtion asked stu\u00addents to rate their lev\u00adel of \u201creli\u00adgious\u00adness\u201d as com\u00adpared to the aver\u00adage per\u00adson their age, with results of 31.7 per\u00adcent rat\u00ading them\u00adselves above aver\u00adage or in the high\u00adest 10 per\u00adcent.
