Paula and I are prep\u00adping to host a bunch of Stan\u00adford stu\u00addents who could\u00adn\u2019t get home for the hol\u00adi\u00addays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks\u00adgiv\u00ading is not a Chris\u00adt\u00adian hol\u00adi\u00adday in the same way that Christ\u00admas is, but it is a hol\u00adi\u00adday that I am always delight\u00aded to cel\u00ade\u00adbrate because grat\u00adi\u00adtude is one of the most impor\u00adtant Chris\u00adt\u00adian virtues. The phras\u00ades \u201cgive\/given\/giving\/gave thanks\u201d occur 28 times in the NIV trans\u00adla\u00adtion of the New Tes\u00adta\u00adment. <strong>Half of those times it is Jesus Him\u00adself giv\u00ading thanks, so to give thanks is Christ\u00adlike.<\/strong><sup data-fn=\"2a066606-8425-47d1-b4ca-4ac1cd7d0f6d\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#2a066606-8425-47d1-b4ca-4ac1cd7d0f6d\" id=\"2a066606-8425-47d1-b4ca-4ac1cd7d0f6d-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So be grate\u00adful this week and always! This Thanks\u00adgiv\u00ading, I pray you feast upon delight\u00adful food while sur\u00adround\u00aded by peo\u00adple you love and that the delec\u00adtable\u00adness of the desserts is only exceed\u00aded by the quan\u00adti\u00adty of the laugh\u00adter. May grat\u00adi\u00adtude fill your heart and ani\u00admate your mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-footnotes\"><li id=\"2a066606-8425-47d1-b4ca-4ac1cd7d0f6d\">Here are the four\u00adteen times (scat\u00adtered across ten pas\u00adsages) the phras\u00ades \u201cgiven\/gave thanks\u201d are used in ref\u00ader\u00adence to Jesus. Inter\u00adest\u00ading\u00adly, they are all relat\u00aded to food.<br>* Matthew 14:19 \u2014 And he direct\u00aded the peo\u00adple to sit down on the grass. Tak\u00ading the five loaves and the two fish and look\u00ading up to heav\u00aden, he <strong>gave<\/strong> <strong>thanks<\/strong> and broke the loaves.
