It\u2019s hard to believe. I was scheduled to preach at an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agts.edu\/community\/chapel.html\">AGTS chapel service<\/a> that morning. As soon as I saw the planes hit I began changing my message, although I fully expected the phone call that came shortly afterwards: \u201cWe\u2019ll reschedule\u2013we just feel like we need to devote the full service to prayer.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In that year I\u2019ve moved from there to here, and I was surprised to learn how Stanford was affected by the terrorist attacks on our culture.<\/p>\n<p>A few items in no particular order:<\/p>\n<p>I found this brief story about the <a href=\"http:\/\/news-service.stanford.edu\/news\/september11\/911-iranianstudent.html\">40 Iranian nationals<\/a> who study at Stanford interesting. I also thought <a href=\"http:\/\/news-service.stanford.edu\/news\/september11\/911-pearson.html\">this administrator\u2019s perspective<\/a> on their plight was interesting.<\/p>\n<p>I also was shocked to learn that <a href=\"http:\/\/news-service.stanford.edu\/news\/september11\/911-seilbach.html\">Stanford received fake anthrax mailings<\/a> last October. Those incidents spawned an <a href=\"http:\/\/news-service.stanford.edu\/news\/september11\/911-gibbs.html\">emergency response force<\/a>. I did find it mildly humorous that the biosafety manager <a href=\"http:\/\/news-service.stanford.edu\/news\/september11\/911-segal.html\">had to get special permission to just analyze everything herself<\/a>.
