Inspired by the folks over at the ESV<\/a> and at Blo\u00adgos<\/a>, I sub\u00admit\u00adted a data set to the Many Eyes repos\u00adi\u00adto\u00adry show\u00ading the per\u00adcent\u00adage of the New Tes\u00adta\u00adment writ\u00adten by each author.<\/p>\n

I got my data from Tis\u00adchen\u00addor\u00adf\u2019s 8th edi\u00adtion Greek New Tes\u00adta\u00adment<\/a> because it was free and pub\u00adlicly avail\u00adable \u2014 big kudos to them for mak\u00ading all their work so eas\u00adi\u00adly usable.<\/p>\n

It occurred to me to do this because count\u00ading the Greek words has always seemed to me to be a bet\u00adter mea\u00adsure\u00adment of the New Tes\u00adta\u00adment doc\u00adu\u00adment lengths than count\u00ading vers\u00ades or chap\u00adters, which are less pre\u00adcise mea\u00adsure\u00adments and are con\u00adtin\u00adgent on the whim\u00adsy of church his\u00adto\u00adry rather than being an intrin\u00adsic part of the text. <\/p>\n

Plus I vivid\u00adly remem\u00adber the day in sem\u00adi\u00adnary when I real\u00adized that Luke had writ\u00adten more of the New Tes\u00adta\u00adment than Paul had. It was an epiphany for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
