Six Month Photos
I have added a bunch of new Dana photos to the gallery. Check them out.
Today we took Dana to the doctor for her six month checkup. All is well, Dana is in the 50th percentile for her weight and length.
She weights 16 lbs 2 oz, and is 26 inches long. She is such a big girl!
In fact, she’s such a big girl that I had the doctor pierce her ears. Dana wasn’t too happy about it at first (I think she thought it was a strange immunization shot), but she seems quite happy with them now. Check out the pictures!
Squirrel Day
I have told several of my friends about this great holiday that I grew up with. I am not sure that any of them believed me. So here is the proof.
For years around Ville Platte the opening day of squirrel seasonthe first Saturday in Octoberhas been known as Squirrel Day. Schools close early the day beforesome dont open at allbecause attendance by students and teachers alike is cut in half. Businesses shutter their windows. Everybody heads for camp, they call it, and that can mean a sleeping bag in the back of a pickup truck or a deluxe hunt lodge wired for electricity, with air-conditioning and big-screen TVs. Squirrel Day is the Cajun Passover, explains Ville Platte native Tim Fontenot. Theres a mass exodus into the woods.

Dana’s four month check up
Dana had her four month check up this past Monday. The doctor says that she is a perfectly healthy girl. Dana is in the 50th percential for her weight and length, she weighed in at 13 pounds 8 ounces and is 24 inches long. To see pictures of Dana visit her web album.
Dana had her two month appointment
Dana is two months old now! We took her to the doctor for her check up and she is doing great. She now weights 10 lbs 1 oz and is 22 3/4 inches long. She is growing so fast!
New things that Dana can do now: smile, coo, and move around in her bed. She is hardly ever in the same position that we put her in.

She is growing and changing
Dana is almost 2 months old! It is so hard to believe that she is almost out of the newborn stage…
She is growing and changing each day. This last week she has mastered the smile and is working on lifting her head as she plays on her belly. To see new pictures of Dana visit her photo album.
Dana’s one month check-up
Today was Dana’s one month check-up, and the doctor was very excited with how much she has grown.
As of today, Dana weights 8 lbs 13 1/2 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long.
She is also learning how to smile these days. That is very exciting for us!

Look At My New Tree!
My favorite gift of all time–a threefold citrus tree!
Today I got one of the best birthday presents I’ve ever received–a citrus tree! Actually, it’s three citrus trees in one. I’ll name it trinity. A company named Willits & Newcomb specializes in citrus trees, and make these “cocktail” trees by grafting two or three varieties onto one trunk. Quite cool!
This one will bear Valencia Oranges, Eureka Lemons, and Bearss Limes!
This is one real advantage to having your mother-in-law come for a visit right before your birthday–you get great gifts!
