Shaowei’s Talk on Science and Religion

Shaowei’s talk on the relationship between science and religion went really well last night.

Around 55 people showed up in the Okada Tea Room and listened intently as Shaowei laid out his thoughts for them.

Shaowei did a great job, and I saw several people engaged in very serious discussion afterwards (Shaowei got them thinking in a major way).

Woohoo!

Shaowei’s talk was inspired by a paper he wrote for one of his classes and has put on his website: Is There Room For God in Science?

He even has a section of his website devoted to Chi Alpha. Aww…

  1. Of course there is room for God in Science! Why are we here to think these things if not for him? Science can be used in two ways,in my estimation.#1,For searching the way God done some of the things he did,and #2,for the ugly idea that there is no God and all search has to exclude him.
God says in the Bible to believe in him and to RUN from sin and he will bless us beyond our imagination.
Christianity is more than a belief in God,why else would he say that the fallen angels believe and tremble.Christianity is a learning process,or should be for each of us.The first step on the road to heaven.Science is a learning of what we can see and touch in reality.Christanity is a learning of the Spiritual Man,or Woman if you prefer. The two are separate but are really one.Or as the Apostle Paul says,“one is Spiritual, the other is Flesh”.But both are within my body.
If we study Science removed from God then what we learn will be a lie.Newtons Laws,Einsteins Relativity or any other theory will be a lie unless God is there. You cannot tell me Newton or Einstein was not right in their assumptions, but at the same time you cannot say they were totally wrong either.
God says to his people that he will bless them beyond imagination, period. The Scientist that is his people may bring forth a Theory that is unquestionably true,or maybe that individual will be blessed in Life.I cannot say.But what i will say is he or she will be blessed beyond imagination.Whatever the blessing will be is up to the Lord, but it will be one that is enjoyable to the individual. The Bible says to you or me that God is supreme, and Satan is second.Satan has power that i cannot imagine. So why would i think he is not in the place of higher learning?Look around you and you will see a much higher degree of Satan than God in people as well as the things we do.
